12/16/2011 - 24 hr Recap for Crime in Providenciales

24 Hour Crime Recap – Providenciales

 

During the past twenty four hours Police in Providenciales responded to Five reports of serious crimes namely one Robbery, two Burglaries, one Attempted Burglary  and one Theft .

 

On Friday morning 16th December 2011 four (4) armed subjects rob and shot two males making a deposit at Royal Bank of Canada located on Leeward Highway Providenciales. The two males received life-threatening injuries and are receiving medical attention at The Cheshire Hall Medical Centre. The investigation is still ongoing.

12/15/2011 - Homicide

On Wednesday evening 14th December 2011 the Turks and Caicos Islands recorded its third Homicide for the year 2011.

 

The incident occurred in a wooded area off South Dock Road Providenciales where a male was found with fatal injuries. The said male was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The investigation is in its preliminary stages and is being headed by Officers from the Criminal Investigation Division in Providenciales.

 

An autopsy will be performed within the coming days to ascertain the cause of death.

11/3/2011 - Shooting - Five Cays

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police, Criminal Investigation Department in Providenciales are investigating a shooting incident which occurred in Five Cays Providenciales on Wednesday night 2nd November 2011 at approximately 9:40 pm. A young man sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg. He was taken to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre for medical attention and is still hospitalized. His injuries are considered non-life threatening

11/2/2011 - Robbery-The Bight, Providenciales

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police, Criminal Investigation Department in Providenciales are presently investigating a Robbery which occurred at a business place in the Bight area of Providenciales at approximately 8:00 pm on Tuesday 1st November 2011.

 

Three masked subjects, one armed with a firearm entered the establishment and robbed it of a quantity of cash. A single gunshot was discharged during the incident by one of the robbers. No one was injured.

 

The Police are seeking the assistance of the general public who might have any information concerning this incident. 10/3/2011 - Goldsmith Burglary - Grand Turk

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police are asking the public’s assistance regarding a burglary at Gold Smith Jewelry in Grand Turk which occurred on the night of August 23rd, 2011. This was the same date of Hurricane Irene. Stolen was Jewelry, watches, chains, cameras, bracelets with an estimated value of approximately $100,000.00.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police also remind the public of the need to refrain from purchasing any items from illegitimate sources. This type of behavior if detected will result in prosecution

The police are reiterating its commitment to the continued vigorous investigation of criminal activity in the islands. The public are urged to assist by providing any information which may be useful to matters currently under investigation.

10/3/2011 - Copper Theft

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police have identified an emerging crime trend on our islands as it relates to the theft of Copper wire. Although this activity has been ongoing throughout the Caribbean where hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Copper are reported stolen yearly, it has now found its way to the Turks and Caicos Islands.

 

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police are asking the public to exercise vigilance and report any suspicious persons or activities seen on or near their properties.

9/29/2011 - Robbery - Market Place Providenciales

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police in Providenciales are actively investigating an armed robbery which occurred at the Market Place off the Leeward Highway. At approximately 8:00pm on Wednesday night September 28th.  2011, a businessman was approached and in the course of a struggle received a gunshot wound to his left shoulder. The injuries are determined to be non-life threatening. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

 

The Police are asking that individuals and businesses to take necessary precautions to deter incidents of this nature and to immediately report any suspicious activities to the Police.

10/11/2010 - Providenciales, Leeward Highway, Nell`s Gift Shop - Wounding at 1:07 am, Crime # 03/01876/10
On Monday about 1:15 am Police responded to a report behind Nell`s Gift Shop. Jason Urban Francis had two gunshot wounds to his arm. He had been accosted by two masked men armed with a shotgun and a hand gun. Suspects were described as 6`, wearing black face masks, black shirts and black long pants, One wore a white T shirt under the black shirt and the other a red shirt. Update: Police have arrested two persons on suspicion, no charges have been made and investigations are ongoing.

10/10/2010 - Providenciales, Blue Hills Road, Red Room Lounge & Bar - Robbery about 12:15 am. Crimes # 03/01837/10 & 03/01838/10
On Sunday three masked gun men robbed a number of patrons of personal belongings while they were at The Red Room Lounge & Bar, Rock Plaza, Blue Hills Road. Suspects are described as two black males dressed in black jeans, one in a white T shirt, the other in a red and black T shirt. Update:. A number of persons have been arrested and are assisting Police with investigations. No charges have been made.

10/7/2010 - Providenciales, Leeward Highway, Royal Jewels - Robbery, about 10:45 am. Crime # 03/01812/10
On Thursday Police responded to a robbery at Royal Jewels. Two males armed with a rifle and a baseball bat entered and took a quantity of watches and finger-rings. Shots were fired at the scene, no one was injured. They escaped in a blue Honda car without a license plate. Suspects described as two males, one 5`8", slim build, wearing long blue jeans, a long sleeve canoflage jacket, black cloth mask, black gloves, with what appeared to be a black and brown rifle, and the other 5`9", medium build, wearing dark pants, a white short sleeve T shirt, white cloth mask, what appeared to be a stocking cap over the hair and black gloves. Update: A number of persons have been arrested, are assisting Police with their investigations, and no charges have been made.

10/1/2010 - Providenciales, Leeward Highway, Royal Bank of Canada - Robbery, about 2:15 pm. Crime # 03/01658/10
Police and medical personnel responded to a 911 report of a Robbery outside Royal Bank of Canada. A female was robbed of cash and her handbag by two masked gunmen dressed in dark clothing .One of the robbers then shot and wounded her fiance in the abdomen. The robbers escaped on foot. Suspects are described as two masked men dressed in all black clothing with white gloves carrying black hand guns. Update: A number of persons have been arrested, are assisting Police with their investigations and no charges have been made.

9/13/2010 - Providenciales, Dolphin Road, Grace Bay Pharmacy, about 7:50 pm. Crime # 03/01645/10
On Monday at about 7:50 pm Police responded to a robbery where two masked men, one with a firearm, robbed them of a quantity of cash. Suspects were described as two young men wearing face masks. One was dark complexion, tall in height and slim build. The other was described as short in build and medium build. Update: One person has been arrested, investigations are ongoing and no charges have been made.

9/11/2010 - Providenciales, Leeward Highway, Texaco Station, about 10:08 pm. Crime # 03/01636/10
Police responded to a robbery at the Texaco Gas Station beside the Venetian Road roundabout where two masked men robbed an employee of cash and shot another employee. Suspects were described as two masked men dressed in all black clothing carrying a hand gun. Update: One person has been arrested, investigations are ongoing and no charges have been made.
